Community Decorations/Ribbons

Decide on a way to decorate your community that will symbolize Family Week. During Family Week in Blue Springs, bows are formed out of gold ribbon and tied on trees, on school fences, outside businesses, and on street poles. Make sure that volunteers are responsible for putting up decorations as well as taking them down when family week is over.

Creative Ideas

Sometimes businesses will come up with their own creative ideas. Such is the case with a local beauty shop owner who inspired Judy’s Dream. A local beauty shop donated free haircuts to a family in need once a month. A box with forms was placed at the Community Services League (food/assistance center) where a drawing is held once a month.

Other ideas include having a free swim night during Family Week at the city pool or YMCA. Libraries can have a family story time.
